Built Up Roof (BUR) Membrane Roofing System
Built Up Roofing systems, also known as “tar and gravel” roofs, are a common multi-ply commercial roof application. In most BUR roofing systems the first layer of roof protections is mechanically attached to the existing roof, and then built up in multiple layers to create the roof protection membrane. BUR roofs offer reliable performance in both high value insulation and external thermal protection. The redundancy of built up layers creates the overall strength of the roofing system and prevention of potential roof leaks.
